One of the focuses of Keep Pasco Beautiful is waste reduction, and we are thrilled to address this area with the Pasco Upcycle & Art Festival. This will be the fourth year for the event, and there is no admission fee. In 2017 we had approximately 100 vendors and 5,000 attendees. The 2018 festival will take place on November 17 from 10 am to 4 pm. The event will once again be located at Sims Park, in Downtown New Port Richey. This year we are excited to partner with Cotee River Brewing on a Craft Beer Garden that will be open from 12 pm to 4 pm.
Many people hear waste reduction and think of the standard household recycling of aluminum cans at the curb, but options are much broader than that. Many things can be reused to reduce the amount of waste in our environment. There is a term for the ingenious process of reinventing something with a better quality, or for better environmental value: upcycle.
The purpose of the Pasco Upcycle Festival is to reduce waste by changing peoples’ perceptions of what can be salvages into not only something useful, but often times a work of art. This event will have numerous upcycle vendors with items such as pallet furniture and spoon bracelets, and their will also be environmental education vendors. There will be food trucks and live music. We are thrilled that the following Americana bands will be playing:
~ Oak Ramble from 10:15 am to 11:45 am
~ Mountain Holler from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm
~ Rebekah Pulley from 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm
We are currently looking for the following types of vendors:
~ Upcycled vendors reusing and/or repurposing materials
~ Artists utilizing various mediums
~ Businesses/individuals with locally grown food, baked goods, or
packaged goods such as jam or honey
~ Food Trucks
This year there will be a $30 vendor fee to help cover event expenses.
