Saturday, November 9, 2019 marks the return of America Recycles Day (ARD) – a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful. First established by the National Recycling Coalition in 1997, ARD represents the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and buy recycled products.
To celebrate, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is partnering with Gwinnett County Solid Waste Management. You have the opportunity to recycle items that are typically harder to recycle, such as electronics, tires, paint, ink/toner cartridges, clothes/sneakers. Free paper shredding will be available.
While the event itself will be from 9 AM – Noon, volunteers are needed from 7:30 AM to 1 PM to help set-up, unload the cars, and cleanup. Minimum age requirement is ages 14 years and older. If you arrive later than 8 AM, you will not be able to volunteer.
Here are some things to remember before you come:
- Paper shredding (up to 5 copier boxes)
- Electronics ($15 cash fee per monitor and TV, $5 cash fee per printer)
- Tires (limit eight; no dealer tires)
- Paint (limit of 10 gallons per vehicle)
- Ink/Toner cartridges
- Clothing and sneakers
