Education Workshop/ ARD Display/Booth / Awareness Event / Pledge Drive
Location: Medical University of South Carolina.
Date: Celebration of November 15th, America Recycles Day, MUSC Sustainability Awareness Week is planned for November 9-13. Each day we will focus on a different recycling or sustanability issue that faces the MUSC community. All activities will be in the horseshoe park between 11 AM and 1 PM unless otherwise specified.
Time: 11 AM - 1 PM.
Event Description: Monday, Nov. 9- Charleston County Recycling will have information and answer questions in the lobby of the MUSC library and two presentation: "Greening your home" by Mary Gatch of Dwell Smart from 11 am to 12 pm in room 116 of the Library and "Greening your Medical Practice" by Marc Marchant from LS3P from noon to 1 pm in room 115 of the Library. Tuesday, Nov. 10- Green Commute Day- CARTA, Parking Management and MUSC Bike Club will have tables in the horseshoe with information on how to commute in a more sustainable way. Wednesday, Nov. 11- Sustainable Garden Day- Jeff Tant with Full Circle Gardens and Landscapes, Jim Martin and Neves Richards with Charleston Parks Conservancy and Colette DeGarady with Native Plants will be coming to share their expertise. Thursday, Nov. 11- MUSC Green Team Day, Friday Nov. 13- MUSC Recycles Day featuring the MUSC Sustainability Program and Recycling staff and information about what services are available on campus. Sunday, Nov. 15- America Recycles Day- no activities are planned on campus but check your local listings for county wide events and remember to recycle: it's for the good of the planet.

Event Description: To celebrate America Recycles Day, Keep the Midlands Beautiful is sponsoring a Recycled Shopping Spree. Three celebrity shoppers will race against the clock to retrieve products packaged in or made from recycled materials (products will be marked with magnets on shelves to help shoppers identify them). The winner is the celebrity with the most recycled-content products.

Event Description: All 5th grade teachers are invited to apply to participate in the America Recycles Day Adventure program which will be held on Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13. Up to 800 students may participate in this educational program where they will go through 5 "hands on" environmental education sessions. A prize drawing will be held at the end of each group.
